Remember these PSA’s from a while back.  We need to bring them back.

About once a week I spend some time in my front yard picking the weeds and gathering up the trash that has “blown in” to my yard.  On average I pick up about 10 cigarette butts.  What is it about smokers and littering.  Are there any smokers who don’t litter?

I saw this guy throw a cigarette butt out his car window today.  First, littering is so disrespectful and irresponsible.  Second, we live in an extremely dry place and even in the city a stray coal could spark a big fire.  In fact, last night a man right here in Albuquerque was charged with careless disposal of a cigarette which started a fire in the Bosque burning several structures and killing some animals.  He’s lucky he didn’t kill any people because his careless act would have resulted in manslaughter charges.  I wonder what kind of punishment he faces.  He’ll probably get a petty fine and never have to pay any retribution for the damage caused.
