Smith's name is Joseph Fielding Smith and the F is merely a convention so as not to confuse the two Joseph Fielding Smiths, but of course you know that. Let's call it haste. It is written as Joseph Fielding Smith on the Official document I received from Church Headquarters. I have changed it to the more widely accepted convention of Joseph F. Smith to avoid confusion. Well, you see Joseph F. Smith’s name is Joseph Fielding Smith and the F is merely a convention so as not to confuse the two Joseph Fielding Smiths, but of course you know that. Let’s call it haste.
